THE OAKS - PLANNED DEVELOPMENT

Cupertino, California

Unbuilt. Proposed under a general plan amendment, this redesign of an 8-acre site sought to convert a declining 1970’s era shopping center into a new, mixed-use, urban village. The overall plan included a 6-story, 117,000 sq ft hotel with 182 guest rooms situated between a 7-story, 280,000 sq ft office building. Three, mixed-use, multi-family, 5-story buildings, provided 270 residential units (including 40 senior units and 30 low-income units) and 42,000 sq ft of ground floor retail. Below-grade parking under the entire site allowed for maximizing the landscaping and outdoor community spaces of the site.
